This is the Last Will and Testament of me Anthony Smith Riding Officer of his Majestys Customs in the Parish of West Lulworth in the County of Dorset made this Twenty ffourth day of April In the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty as follows My Will and Desire that my ffuneral may be with no more Expence than Decency requires and that no Mourning be Given to any person Only I desire that Six Poor Men may be paid ffive Shillings each to carry my Corps to the Grave by my Executor herein after named First I Give to my Sister Sarah Shuttlewood and her Husband One Guinea each to buy them a Ring each Also I Give to my Sister Ann Halfpenny the Sum of Twenty Pounds Also I Give and bequeath unto my Nephew Richard Penner of Plymouth for the Term of his life the Interest and Produce of Two hundred Pounds South Sea Capital Stock which I Purchased August the Nineteenth 1756 of Mr J Parrin the New Joint Stock of South Sea Annuitys in the ffirst subscription No 296 for the Sum of 178:5:0 together with all the Interest Money due for the same and which at the time of my decease be in the hands of my Brother in Law Mr John Shuttlewood of the Trinity house whom I have Appointed to receive the same Interest And from and after the Decease of the said Richard Penner I Give and bequeath the said Two hundred Pounds South Sea Capital Stock unto my Grand Neice Elizabeth Penner Daughter of the said Richard Penner her Executors Administrators and Assigns Also I Give and Devise unto my said Nephew Richard Penner his Heirs and Assigns for ever the ffee Simple and Inheritance of All that Garden with the Appurtenances Situate lying and being in the Town and Borough of Weymouth and Melcombe Regis in the said County of Dorset that side of the said Town called Weymouth and Melcombe Regis which I purchased of and from Mr Joseph Henley of Weymouth and Melcombe Regis aforesaid By Indenture  of Lease and Release bearing date respectively the Twenty Seventh and Twenty Eighth days of March In the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and fforty Also I Give and bequeath unto my said Nephew Richard Penner One Silver Cupp Markt W.S. One Small Silver Pint Mug dated on the handle Sept 28 1711 And also all my Wearing Apparel both Linnen and Woollen And also my Silver Hilted Sword Whip and Hanger my ffour Guns and all my Pistolls and one paire of Silver Spurs an Eight day Clock and Two Silver Watches And also the Two Pictures of my ffather and Mother and the Kings and Princes Coats of Arms and a large Pembridge Glass with Maia 3a 1582 Engraved on it. Also I Give and bequeath unto the said Richard Penner One large Carved Chest One Oak Bureau the hanging looking Glass in a fframe that used to stand on the said Bureau And also the Bed Bedstead bolster Two Pillows One Matrice with blue and White Striped Cotton Curtains Head Cloth and Tester and One India Stampt Quilt Also I Give unto my Servant Mary Andrews the Bedstead and blue Curtains in the Chambers over the little Parlor with the Cedar Bureau and Hanging looking Glass in a fframe. Also one Cotton Quilt White Ground with Red figures lined with Yellow And One Linnen Quilt lined with fflannel  Also I Give the said Mary Andrews all my Provisions both Eatables and Drinkables and all my Barels and Brewing Utensils with my Bottles and ffewel Also I Give the said Mary Andrews my Wooden Clock and brass Alarm and a large Bible Printed by John Basket in 1733. Also I Give the said Mary Andrews Two Silver Spoons Markt A.S. and ffive Silver Tea Spoons and One Pair of Silver Tea Tongs Also I Give the said Mary Andrews my Two Old ffeather Beds Two bolsters and ffoure Pillows and also the Bedstead in the Chamber over the Kitchen with the Red Curtains Head Cloth and also the side Sadle Whereas I Purchased of Edward Weld Esqr by Indenture of Lease bearing the third Day of March In the Yeare of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and ffifty none All that Tenement with the Lands Hereditaments and Appurtenances thereto belonging Situate lying and being in West Lulworth aforesaid then late in the Tenure of Martha Pilman Widow deceased To hold to my Executors Admors and Assigns for a Term of Ninety nine Yeares determinable on the Deaths of myself the above named Mary Andrews and my said Grand Niece Elizabeth Penner Now I do Give Devise and bequeath the said Leasehold Tenement and Premises together with the said Indenture of Lease unto the said Mary Andrews (In Consideration of her long and ffaithful Service) for and during so many Years of my said Term therein as shall run out and Expire in her life time. And from and after the Death of the said Mary Andrews Then I do Give Devise and bequeath the said Leasehold Tenement and Premises together with the said Indenture of Lease thereof unto my said Grand Neice the said Elizabeth Penner for and during the then remainder of my said Term therein. Also I Give and bequeath unto the said Mary Andrews All my Crops of Corn Grain and Hay which Shall at the time of my decease be Standing Growing or being upon my said Leasehold Tenement and Premises and in the Barn or other Outhouses therein belonging together with my Stock of Cow Cattle Sheep and Hoggs upon and belonging to my said Tenement and Premises Also I Give unto the said Mary Andrews the Sum of ffifteen pounds to be paid to her by my Executor hereinafter named in three Months after my Decease Also I Give unto my said Grand Neice Elizabeth Penner my Mother of Pearl Snuff Box and one Agate Handle Knife and ffork And all the rest and residue of my Household Goods and ffurniture Except what is herein before Given I Give unto my said Nephew Richard Penner and my said Servant Mary Andrews to be Equally divided between them Share and Share alike Also I Give unto my said Nephew Richard Penner All my Ready Money and all Sum and Sums of Money due to me from any Person whatsoever and wheresoever On Notes of Hand and Bills or Bonds and all Rents and Arrears of Rent due to me from William Pomeroy of Greenwich in the County of Kent for my Two Houses in Greenwich aforesaid And also all Moneys due to me from the Custom House at Weymouth for Seizures Sallary or otherwise On Condition that he the said Richard Penner Do pay and Discharge all my Just Debts ffuneral charges and all Pecuniary Legacys by me Given in this my Will Also I Give unto my Good friend Richard Gostelowe of Chaldon Herring in the said County of Dorset Esq the Sum of Ten Guineas in consideration of the trouble he may have about the Execution of this my Will And Lastly I do Constitute and Appoint the said Richard Gostelowe to be my Sole and whole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making Void all former Wills whatsoever In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and Year first above written Antho: Smith
